Nurse Manager

Pregnancy Care Center of Grants provides medical services, education, and resources that give value to human life, while offering hope and restoration. Established in 1988, PCC operates as a trusted, community funded, faith-based, non-profit accredited medical center in Southern Oregon. Services are provided free of charge to all, regardless of age, gender, marital status, race, sexual orientation, disability, or religious belief.
Objectives of the position: The Nurse Manager has the responsibility to oversee the implementation and maintenance of all medical operations of the clinic. This includes the management and supervision of the medical staff, volunteers, and the implementation of medical policies and procedures established by the Medical Director.
Reports to: Medical Director and Executive Director
Supervises: Direct supervision of Staff Nurses and Medical Assistant in the absence of the Medical Director. Indirect supervision of volunteer medical staff including Patient Advocates.
Qualifications:
- Current R.N. license in good standing with the Oregon Board of Nursing, along with one to two years related experience
- Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
- Exhibit strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and sexual purity
- Agree with and be willing to uphold the Statement of Faith, Core Values, and policies of the center
- Be able to provide spiritual leadership, discipleship, and support to employees and volunteers
- Demonstrate ability to communicate with others in an appropriate manner
- Be dependable, stable, and capable of following through on commitments
- Be able to carry out responsibilities with little or no supervision
- Obtain computer skills that include knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
Roles and Responsibilities include:
- Along with the Medical Director, develops, implements, and evaluates medical department policies, goals, and objectives
- Coordinates and evaluates activities and work assignments of medical personnel
- Assists with recruiting and training qualified medical staff and volunteers
- Facilitates and assists with orienting new medical personnel and assures that training and education needs of medical personnel are met
- Practices OSHA safety standards and attends departmental safety meetings
- Ensures compliance with annual requirements for medical staff trainings as outlined in policies and procedures and corresponding with OSHA, HIPAA, and AAAHC standards
- Participates in the development, monitoring, and modifications of medical department budget and strategic plan
- Conducts patient care as needed to include pregnancy counseling, urine pregnancy tests, and limited OB ultrasound (after competency training has occurred)
- Adheres to the standard of care within the nursing scope of practice
- Maintains knowledge to educate patients regarding abortion procedures/risks; health maintenance during pregnancy; STI/STD risks, need for testing, and treatment
- Attends regular and special staff meetings
- Oversees the plan of care and nursing assessment of patients
- Works in conjunction with the physician(s), nurses, and consultants to assure that patients are receiving the best medical, nursing, and psychosocial care possible
- Directs preparation and maintenance of patients' clinical records.
- Orders or directs ordering of medical supplies, educational materials, and resources for use with patients
- Ensures that STI/STD school presentations are being presented by a licensed nurse whenever possible, including acting as the presenter as needed
- Maintains a working knowledge of nursing methods, principles and practices in relation to the prevention and treatment of disease, safety and infection control, clinical systems, supplies and equipment
- Participates on the Quality Improvement, Medical Executive, and Safety committees
- Represents the organization in the medical community and assist the Medical Director and Executive Director with medically-related public relations activities
